Challenge Roth Superlative: Jan Frodeno, Patrick Lange, Anne Haug

This elite field is second to none: July 3rd will be the ultimate sports spectacle for triathlon fans at the world's largest long-distance triathlon. In the historically strong starting field, there are three world champions at the start with Jan Frodeno, Anne Haug and Patrick Lange. Also among the title contenders are Sam Long, Magnus Elbæk Ditlev, Laura Siddall, Fenella Langridge and Maja Stage Nielsen.

In the men's triathlon, German triathlon legends Jan Frodeno and Patrick Lange have to assert themselves against up-and-coming competition, the best American Sam Long and Magnus Elbæk Ditlev from Denmark. For Jan Frodeno it is the first race after his Achilles tendon injury. Patrick Lange is also celebrating his comeback in the "Home of Triathlon" after an injury break of several months and his victory last year. It will be interesting to see how the two exceptional talents will fare after a long time without long-distance competition.

Sam Long , who skipped the race in Hawaii this year to be in top form in Roth, would certainly like to have a say in the win. Magnus Elbæk Ditlev is contesting his second long distance in Roth, but he caused a stir last year with his two half-distance victories at Challenge Budva and Ironman 70.3 Cascais.

Another outstanding athlete is Cameron Brown from New Zealand. Brown competed in the first challenge in 2002 where he finished second. At the age of 50, Brown returns to the Rother starting line as a professional on the occasion of the 20th Challenge anniversary.

2021 runner-up Laura Siddall returns to the home of triathlon for the fifth time this year. Showing her incredible strength, she overtook Fenella Langridge a few kilometers before the end of DATEV Challenge Roth powered by hep 2021, with Langridge completing the podium. As a ROTH rookie , Maja Stage Nielsen was able to storm the podium last year. The Dane finished tenth at the World Championships in St. George in May and was on the podium in several middle distances.
