As part of the 16th indeland triathlon on June 18, 2023, a German championship will also be held for the first time. In the middle distance, the German champions will be crowned after 1.9 kilometers of swimming, 88 kilometers of cycling and 20 kilometers of running.
“We are very pleased that our application was successful. The award is a great honor and at the same time a very special award for the great work that everyone involved in the indeland triathlon has been doing here for many years,” says the patron of the indeland triathlon, District Administrator Wolfgang Spelthahn. Jens Bröker, Managing Director of the development company indeland GmbH, can only agree. "With the German Championship we have the opportunity to bring even more triathletes to indeland, to make the high recreational value of the region known throughout Germany and to present ourselves as a good host," says Bröker .
The German championship over the middle distance has been held officially since 1994. Olympic champion and three-time Ironman world champion Jan Frodeno is also on the list of winners, as is Sebastian Kienle, for example. He was also the Ironman World Championship winner, three-time European Champion and three-time German Champion over the middle distance.
So the spectators can look forward to an even more exciting competition in the inland. A total of 700 starting places are available for the middle distance. Every participant who has German citizenship can be included in the German championship ranking. Age group winners will also be announced. There will also be an elite class for triathlon professionals with a special starting pass from the DTU.
In addition to the middle distance, on June 18, 2023 there will of course also be a short distance (1.7 km swimming, 44 km cycling, 10 km running) and a popular distance for triathlon beginners (500 m swimming, 20 km cycling and 5 km run) offered. Nothing will change in the course of the popular event either. The swim starts in the morning at the Blausteinsee in Eschweiler. From there it goes through the opencast mining region on a closed bike path to Aldenhoven, where the running laps are completed. The finish line is in the Römerpark there.
The organizer of the indeland triathlon, which will take place for the 16th time in 2023, is the district of Düren in cooperation with the triathlon team indeland on behalf of the development company indeland.
