Michael Raelert: Saisonauftakt beim Ironman Südafrika

Form test and anticipation: This Sunday (April 3rd) Michael Raelert will be back at the Ironman South Africa - the first race for months for the Rostocker.

Michael Raelert is looking forward to his first competition of 2022. On Sunday he will compete in the Ironman in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, which is also the African championship of the Ironman distance of 3.8 kilometers swimming, 180 kilometers cycling and 42.2 kilometers running is "I've been at a training camp in Asia for a few months now," says the Rostocker, "and I'm really looking forward to a competition."

In the past few weeks and months, Michael Raelert has been preparing for the start of the season, especially in Thailand. "I would like to start the season with an early long-distance race," says Michael Raelert. "I still have some work ahead of me, but I want to show myself now and I'm curious to see what form I can already retrieve." The Rostocker faces strong competitors in South Africa. In addition to German competitors such as Nils Frommhold and Franz Loeschke , international calibers such as the South Africans Kyle Buckinham and Matt Trautman, as well as the Brit Joe Skipper and the Swede Jesper Svensson have reported.

The competition on Sunday marks the end of a long training block for Michael Raelert. He would like to use the race to gain more motivation for the upcoming tasks. "I would like to be in good shape for the long distance early in the year," says the Rostocker, "I hope that I can make a positive first impression on Sunday.
