ASICS präsentiert den GEL-NIMBUS 25 – den komfortabelsten Laufschuh auf dem Markt

ASICS today introduces the latest version of the popular GEL-NIMBUS - according to a study currently the most comfortable running shoe on the market. In an independent test by "The Biomechanics Lab" in South Australia, the new GEL-NIMBUS 25 was rated by scientists and test runners as the best shoe in terms of comfort. The GEL-NIMBUS 25 thus offers the best values in terms of damping behavior and soft landing than comparable models.

New cushioning technology

The GEL-NIMBUS 25 features the new PureGEL technology, which is softer than the previous GEL technology used by Asics. It is invisibly placed in the midsole. The PureGEL absorbs the impact forces even more effectively with every step and, together with the FF BLAST PLUS ECO cushioning, ensures the most comfortable running experience to date. This cushioning foam now also contains 20% more soft foam compared to previous versions and is also made from at least 20% biological material. The new elastic and at the same time breathable tongue made of knit material and the easier entry into the shoe ensure comfort and an adaptive fit.

development and testing

The new GEL-NIMBUS 25 took 18 months to develop with the aim of giving runners the best possible running comfort. According to the Asics design philosophy, the development of the GEL-NIMBUS 25 is based on the following four pillars:

  • Athlete Tests
  • Biomechanical Research
  • processing
  • Sustainable innovation

Independent comfort test by The Biomechanics Lab in South Australia

ASICS Global hired Dr. Chris Bishop PhD of The Biomechanics Lab in South Australia to design and conduct an independent study comparing the new GEL-NIMBUS 25 to other running shoes in terms of comfort. It was compared to three shoes from other leading running shoe brands on the one hand and to its own predecessor, the GEL-NIMBUS 24, on the other.

The most central of a total of three research questions was: Is the GEL-NIMBUS 25 more comfortable than the four comparison models?

100 runners (52 men, 48 women) were recruited for this study, which lasted eight weeks. The study participants walked in all five pairs of shoes, which were taped in such a way that no branding or design features were recognizable. Subjects were required to run at a speed of 10 km/h for three minutes on an instrumented treadmill and were asked to rate the comfort of each shoe using various criteria, including heel cushioning, forefoot cushioning, stability and forefoot flexibility. An independent statistical analysis of the results using three different measurement methods was performed and the results were unequivocal: the GEL-NIMBUS 25 was rated number 1 in terms of comfort.

dr Chris Bishop, Podiatrist and Research Associate at the University of South Australia, explains: “Comfort is a perceptual factor, not a biomechanical variable, and it is not the same for everyone. However, the results of this study were unequivocal: Statistically, the GEL-NIMBUS™ 25 was the most comfortable running shoe in the test."
